If you do not have much time to plan your vacation in Las Terrenas,
here are my first recommendations:

LAS TERRENAS it is a very very beautiful village which has the right mixture 
of real Dominican life and touristic pleasures which are offered as well.
On my homepage, you will find many fotos of Las Terrenas.

The most beautiful pictures I shot in the Dominican Republic
are from La Ceiba, which is a part of Las Terrenas.

I have been in a small hotel which was called LA FAMA, 
if did cost only 15 US$, but I recommend that you and your family
take a hotel more close to the beach and which is more touristic. 
The price will be about 50 $, you can negotiate.
The hotels in Las Terrenas are NOT ALL INCLUSIVE 
i.e. you do not have a animation for tourists, 
and you must fill your day yourself. 
I recommend that you stroll along the beaches and 
even more important: Through the barrios, and talk to the people. 
You will suddenly find that you prefer to visit Dominicans
in their houses and sit and talk and drink with them
rather than go to the beach and laze away the day. 
There are thousands of children and your kids will have 
a great time spending their holidays with them.


Do not take too much suitcases with you, you can clean clothes at the local laundry.

The trip to Las Terrenas is an adventure itself, as it is not near an Air port. 
I would recommend to go to Puerto Plata Air Port and then 
take a Bus of Caribe-Tours to Sanchez
The busride will be about 2 Hours.

Then take a public cab to Las Terrenas (30 minutes) 
this really is the way you MUST travel and it is the exciting dominican way,
especially the trip with the public cab, 
as you will be together with Dominicans on the back of a Pic up,

Do not accept offer for individual taxis, 
the driver will charge you thousands of Pesos ,
as they always want to make a bargain with tourists!
If you go by taxi, you will pay much money and do not get the Dominican feeling!

Remember: Take public buses, carros, pick ups.
